Adults and children recently got involved in an art project which put to good use rubbish cleaned from the beach at Samphire Hoe by thoughtless passers-by On Sunday, Paul Holt from the White Cliffs Countryside Project and Folkestone Artist Ruth Parkinson led the activity which was the final of three events, part funded by Kent County Council. The aim of the project was to discover the wildlife along the strand line and help to care for the area by carrying out a clean-ip of the beach. Paul Holt said ‘With the materials we found on the beach we made a sculpture entitled ‘all hooked up’.
This will be left up at the Hoe to raise peoples awareness of the issue of rubbish in the sea and on the beaches. The event was great fun for all of the 26 people who came along, both children and adults’. Samphire Hoe is owned by Eurotunnel and managed in partnership with the White Cliff Countryside Project.

LITTLE OAKS NURSERY SCHOOL
Inspired by an artist led workshop, at a gallery, in Folkestone, Little Oaks Holiday/After School Club completed works of art for an exhibition, 'RESPONSE'. The children aged from four to ten years designed their own pictures, using natural materials, and found objects.
QUANGLE WANGLE HATS
The children were introduced to Lear's Book of Nonsense poetry. Large cardboard hats in different designs, were made for the children to paint and decorate. It was a holiday club event and the children were aged from 4 - 10 years of age. Everyone enjoyed themselves very much. The artist made her own hat, based on the Royal Pavilion Hotel and Mr. Edward Lear.
